We have some significant news regarding your current BRP Card/UK Visa permit. Starting in December 2024, the UK government will transition from Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) cards to an eVisa system. This new approach aims to streamline the process and enhance convenience for all visa holders.
What This Means for You
Your physical BRP card will remain valid until the end of December 2024. After this date, it will be replaced by an eVisa. It’s important to note that your BRP will not be replaced upon expiry. If you do not create a UKVI account and access your eVisa before your BRP expires, you may face difficulties proving your immigration status.
Steps to Take Now
To ensure a smooth transition, you need to set up access to your eVisa. Here’s what you’ll need:
- Your BRP number (or visa or immigration application number)
- Your passport (if you do not have a BRP)
- Access to an email address and phone number
- Access to a smartphone
